Remote diagnosis

Remote diagnosis is the assessment of a reported equipment fault by a technical reviewer who uses available evidence without attending the asset in person.

Evidence may include video, photos, fault codes, authorised readings and earlier checks. The reviewer considers possible causes and whether the evidence supports a decision. Some faults remain uncertain until physical investigation, testing or qualified on-site examination is completed.

How it works in field service

A guided request collects the equipment identity, symptoms in context, accessible error displays and relevant close views. A customer or site operator records only what is safe and permitted. A technician may provide additional authorised readings and describe work already attempted when seeking specialist support.

The reviewer records the assessment and next action: safe remote guidance, a targeted request for missing evidence or a prepared visit. Keep the reasoning and visual briefing with the case so another specialist or attending technician can review it. Do not treat a suggested cause as certainty when the evidence is incomplete. Remote diagnosis supports service judgement; it does not replace required physical checks, qualified repair work or emergency procedures.
